Project S: Cleaning It Up!

Nov 21, 2012 14:47

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Saxons I started with cleaning up my saxons last night. I decided to take my Black Tree figures first, selecting 12 archers to be used as levies and another 8 unarmored fighters to serve as ceorls. The Gripping Beast plastics will serve as huscarls. Unfortunately, none of them have dane axes so it looks like I need to get some more figures after all.

Well, maybe not for the starting warband. I guess I can manage with regular weapons for a while.

Assembling these figures reminded me what I hate most about metal figures: Glueing on shields, weapons and other parts. Being an old git, I really like metal figures otherwise. It's just the shields that really irratate me, probably partly because I can never get superglue to glue anything besides my fingers.

Saxons And these new fast epoxies are getting a bit too fast, to the point that I can't use even a small amount before it starts to get dry and unusable. Five minute epoxy is fine, but the new 90 second varieties seem to be more trouble than they are really worth -- you still have to support the actual shield or whatever you were glueing while the glue really dries.
