Project S: Halfway There!

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Saxons My unarmored saxons are basically sort of done. There was a slight delay because I didn't have any shield transfers that would actually fit the shields on my figures. Luckily Phil from Spirit Games came to my rescue and sent me some more transfers. Turns out VVV makes saxon shield transfers in three different sizes. DD3 is for 14mm shields and it's too large for my shields. DD4 is for small 10mm shields and the newer DD11 code is in the middle, pretty good for the Black Tree shields which are about 12mm in diameter.

The thing about these figures is also that I did them completely in Foundry/Dallimore 3-color style. It was a nice excercise, but I really need to get some more Foundry colors. I need a darker blue and green at the very least and a mid gray to bridge black and white... I already got another tray for the pots so now I really must buy them...

As for the basically sort of done bit: Well, the archers are okay levies as is, but I just randomly selected the axemen for the warriors. As it turns out, half of them have two-handed axes which is technically not a legal option for basic anglo-dane warriors.

Saxons While I could just let it slide for the starter set, I guess I'll paint up more figures when I expand this force to 6 points and set it right.

Now I should get back to my hearthguard. I suspect they will actually be faster to do since they're mostly chainmail and I've already done that. And I only really need 9 more figures for a basic 4 point starter force.
