Project S2: Started

Apr 10, 2013 15:10

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

More troopers I am easily excited, which has the nasty side effect of leaving my storage shelves full of half-completed projects and unpainted figures. Considering the common complaints and jokes about attic lead shielding and such, I gather I am not alone.

Without a clear goal, I tend to wander off far too easily. Symptoms include half-painted models gathering on the workbench, sudden emphasis on terrain building and perhaps most significantly a reduced enjoyment of modelling and subsequent drop in production numbers.

I could see the signs creeping into view this spring. Something had to be done. As I had already painted a fair bunch of Starship Troopers models for the resolutions and I had assumed partial responsibility for organising games for my gaming club, a brilliant idea was formed: Why not make this into a project?

Bug Factory Thus started Project S2. The ultimate goal is to hold a demo game of Starship Troopers at my gaming club. To this end, I need to source more figures, paint them, prepare terrain, read and learn the rules, prepare scenarios, actually hold the event and perhaps even write a report about it.

Since the event is already in the club calendar, there is a clearly defined deadline for this project. Which is usually a good thing for my motivation and output.

I do have a slight head start since I already have quite a bit of figures painted, but there's still lots to be done.

Ok, about six weeks to work. Let's get on with it!

Would you like to know more?

P.S. This is also related to another thing I'm planning, but more on that later...
