Project S2: Update!

Apr 16, 2013 10:22

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Starship Troopers I got some more basic stuff for Project S2. I bought the last remaining basic box from my local game store. Given that these were the last ones easily available, I think I'm going to reserve at least part of them for conversions.

Given that I already have 60 warrior bugs ready and painted, I should be able to field a small army for a test game easily enough. On the Mobile Infantry side the biggest problem is the lack of identifiable officer figures. While I'm at it, I might as well assemble another batch of cap troopers. I still have some brain cells left...

However, ironically, the most pressing concern is terrain. I need to make some tunnel entry markers because I certainly won't have a demo game with those flimsy cardboard thingies that came in the box and while I do have some generic blast craters tucked away somewhere, they're not large enough.

Walkers The MI also have some heavy support. I really got and painted these for the Space Komsomol but they can be pressed into use in their original game too. In typical game reality fashion, the officers get first choice of heavy gear so I could use one of the Chickenhawks as the force lieutenant.

With over a month to the deadline, I already have a pretty safe collection of figures. I can whip together a game without really painting anything more. But that doesn't mean resting on my laurels. It means I can step away from mass producing bulk troops and concentrate on doing something... interesting.

Did I mention I found an MI UAV kit on my shelf a couple of days ago? I honestly didn't remember buying it.

Would you like to know more?
