Resolutions June: Short Guys

Jun 19, 2013 08:15

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Dwarves The dwarven legion is finished! I dug up my old Grenadier plastic dwarves that came with the Fantasy Warriors game box. They were actually pretty fun to paint even though chronologically they did take over half of the month to get finished. Now that these are done, I only have a few dwarves lying about... excluding a huge mountain of Chronopia dwarves, which are quite fun figures but rather incompatible style with everything else.

The thing I like about single part plastics is that there is no assembly or small fiddly bits. Now, I'll be the first to admit it does bring some technical limitations, but a talented sculptor can work within those limits and still produce nice figures. The real failing point is when sculpts are produced in single part molds without considering the medium.

In case you were wondering, I couldn't find suitable transfers so I hand-painted all the shield designs. Badly.

Dwarves This also marks the halfway point of the resolutions project. Six monthly batches done, six to go. It's been a rough ride and the biggest hurdle is next: my vacation is starting and I may not be at my desk all that much.

Still, I dug up my box of orcs and started preparing a bunch of them. More Grenadier and a small set of GW/MB figures. Remember Battle Masters?
