Project H: First Playtest

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Heist Playtest Project H gets off the back burner. I took the time to write down the first version of the rules during my vacation and we had a small playtest session at the club last week.

It was interesting to see my rules in action for the first time. Ofcourse there were things that didn't work out quite like I had thought and things that I hadn't given enough thought. But the important thing is that the basic core of the game worked pretty much as I thought it would and, more importantly, that the playtesters seemed to like the tactical challenge it represented.

I set out the create a very specific thing with the Heist rules and developing the rules would be pretty futile if no one wanted to play that.

Heist Playtest I've already written the second version of the rules and I'm itching to add more things. But maybe I should hold my horses and wait for the next playtest session first. If working in software taught me anything, it's that you should not change too many things between debugging sessions.

On a slightly related note, I was cleaning my rules bookshelf when I discovered a printout of the dogfight rules I wrote some ten years ago. Maybe I should dust them off and organize another playtest session?
