The Alphabet Team

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

The Alphabet Team Typically I hate sound effects on web pages, but this is one of the very rare exceptions where it would actually fit... go ahead, hum the tune, I know you can do it...

Taa-ta-taaa...

Here's a little reminder to set you in the mood.

So, back to today's topic, which is totally non-IP infringing and not connected to anything in any way... where did I put my can of Lawyer-B-Gone, there seems to be a particularly rabid one nipping at my ankle?

After finishing this month's resolutions batches, I turned to the sin bin, figures that have been clogging my desk for far too long. I finished a Rhino for the Purple Hearts and then turned my attention to the Alphabet Team here.

The Alphabet Team These figures are from the Foundry's Street Violence range. I bought the pack quite some time ago as a single because I just had to have these figures. To be quite frank, they leave a little bit to desired, especially with the guns. I don't know if it's the sculpt or were the molds just nearing the end of their service life when mine were cast.

I painted these in Foundry/Dallimore 3-color, which I've been trying to learn for years. I cheated only a little bit, Mister Z's gold chains were washed because I just couldn't pick off that detail with a brush. I still haven't quite figures out how to do metals with 3-color. Otherwise it went pretty smoothly after I used the DVD box cover as painting reference, though I didn't follow it slavishly. And I did not even try to freehand a tiger on the pilot's jacket. Maybe I should get my daughter to do that, she freehands her nails all the time and is a far better artist than I can ever hope to be...

The Alphabet Team I really enjoyed the totally not connected TV show back in the day and even the movie was okay, though I feel it failed to really capture the playful spirit of the series. Liam Neeson is a great actor, but George Peppard is Hannibal Jones, and that's just the way it is.

I like to keep the same playful spirit in my gaming and other hobbies. That's why I'm not too fond of overly serious game settings let alone dreary grimdark ones.

If it's not fun, you should get paid to do it.

Keeping a playful spirit, planting tongue firmly in cheek does not mean turning the whole game into a joke. A game of chess with pink pawns is still a game of chess. But years down the road, do you remember that bold castling move or even who won? More likely you'll remember the pink pawns and the smile they gave you.

Let's have some fun playing games.

I love it when a plan comes together.

P.S. I listened to the theme music all through writing this entry.
