February: 165-62

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Orcy Goodness! February is finished! Well, technically not quite yet, but I won't be finishing anything tonight so I might as well calculate the figures already. This was a tough month in many ways not related to the hobby, but I still managed to keep painting. Frankly, painting offered a little bit of solace during the turmoils. For some ailments, work is the best medicine.

But enough about that and back to what really matters: little toy soldiers.

I managed to resist many temptations and as a result the score has even improved a little. I did not dip into the painting "credit" accumulated during the dry month of January and even managed to paint a couple more figures than I bought, largely due to the big batch of orcs I did to finish off the month.

When February started, there was definitely some pent up frustration on the purchase front and I did end up sending a largish order as soon as January ended. Then I bought less than I otherwise might have from a couple of sales, which caused some anguish but is probably better in the long run. Right now I don't feel a pressing urge to buy any figures.

The Alphabet Team I do feel the need for need paints and brushes, figure storage cases, terrain stuff and rules, but not really figures.

I did run into an interesting dilemma, though. I bought some rulebooks and got a couple of freebie figures. There was also a mistake in one of my orders, which resulted in me getting some extra figures. I did not explicitly say this, but I'm going to call these legit. I did not specifically purchase these figures, so they are fair game. You'll have to trust me not to abuse this loophole...

Haven't quite figured what to do with Kickstarters, though. I will probably have to implement a similar protocol when an interesting one rolls around: Count the ones I specifically invest in but the freebie extras are gravy. Right now there isn't anything really interesting there so the issue hasn't really come up.

Next month my Ferach are going to get some cavalry reinforcements: lancers and cuirassiers. I have a nagging feeling all of them might not actually be Flintloque figures, but they're close enough. Except maybe the hero in plate armor but whetever. He can be the eccentric colonel.

Purple Hearts: Rhino Salvage But there really is time for some spring cleaning. My hobby table has been hidden under a pile of junk far too long and it's gotten so bad I don't have the space to work anymore without clearing something away. I really need to take stock with my terrain and scratch-building projects, select some to finish and put the others in storage.

Focus, focus, focus...
