Resolutions April: Ferach On Foote

Apr 22, 2014 10:53

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Ferach On Foote It's been a busy month. The International Tabletop Day, Model EXPO, Easter holidays and other commitments have been sucking up my time... but so have these guys! Quite frankly I'm starting to get my fill of pseudo-napoleonic uniforms...

Feeling a bit guilty about the rush job I did with the undead character set, I decided to do these fully in 3-color. They are actually pretty nice and fun models to paint, it's just the stress of producing against a deadline and leaving all the other projects in the dust that I don't like.

These figures cover a subject that is actually seen very rarely in historical figures. They are all dismounted cavalry officers and troopers. It's pretty nifty that I actually have the mounted counterparts for the cuirassiers painted in the previous set, maybe I should get some hussars as well... or maybe sanity should prevail.

The cuirassiers were relatively easy to do since I had already dug up the reference material. Finding examples of the 8th Hussars wasn't that hard either, it was just the usual Flintloque changes to kit and gear that confuse the Napoleonice novice that I am.

Ferach On Foote In the end I did get them finished, but it looks like I won't be finishing very many other models this month. In fact, I cheated a bit and already cleaned the next batch. Not because I particularly like them but because right now I just want to get them done and never paint another pom-pom again until the heck freezes over!

Or a couple of months passes, whichever comes first.

P.S. There's loads more stuff to talk about, but let's keep this one about the resolutions and leave the other stuff for later.
