Resolutions May: The Final Batch

May 21, 2014 10:12

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Ferach Final Batch They are finally done! I have finished all the figures in the Flintloque box as promised. I'm a bit careful with the wording because I have this nagging feeling that I have a throne set somewhere that might actually be sold as Flintloque model these days... but the original resolutions was about the stuff in the box and that's done.

Life keeps throwing challenges at me. This month has been the least productive stretch of time in a long while. I barely scraped these together, I haven't really been doing anything else and it looks like that won't be changing in short order.

Quite frankly I'm not so sure this last batch really is Flintloque at all. They don't have a musket between them and they are also slightly smaller figures than the rest of my Flintloque collection. They are from Alternative Armies, that's for sure, but they might really be Crystal Elves or Dresda or some weird proto-Flintloque stuff. Can anyone identify these figures?

As an additional note, they are done in very soft alloy which makes the spears and bannerpoles really bendy.

Ferach Final Batch I did these in a hybdrid style because I felt I didn't have the time for a full 3-color treatment. The flesh is 3-color while the large surfaces are mostly just washed or treated with a single highlight. Details are mostly not highlighted at all. This is at the low end of acceptable for these figures in my opinion. I will happily dip some other figures, but not uniforms like these.

I mostly just feel heppy these are done and I have no desire to be anywhere near a Napoleonic uniform with a brush anytime soon. They do pose interesting challenges to paintig, but it's just so draining to do them and I have no real use for them.

Yep, I will be having a couple of games with them next month. After all, I have to test the terrain set I made... but after that these are probably going to be mothballed forever.

Then it's back into colonial gaming and huge blocks of gleaming skin! Seven units of 24 foot or 12 mounted to be finished by the end of the year... I will be starting with Africa.
