Resolutions September: The September Boys

Sep 10, 2014 09:24

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Tribal Warriors The September batch is done! The final few tribal warriors were bolstered by witch doctors and the indomitable Carruthers brothers, explorers extraordinaire who also seem to share some of the natives' aversion to the infernal soul capturing contraption. (Somehow I forgot to take any closeups of them in their finished state)

This means that there is just one batch of Africans left. These will be the Masai next month, fortified by a good selection of explorers and adventurers. Then I need to think of something else for November and December.

The situation with the painted figures is getting ever worse. I really need to take the time to properly file the stuff away again. The temporary storage boxes are nearly overflowing...

This batch was actually pretty fun to do and finished in good time despite being a pretty mixed bunch. I'm especially happy with the explorers, which I finished in just two days. That was partly due to doing them all in the same color scheme, partly due to doing them in 3-color, which negated drying time for washes.

Masked Avengers Now, what did I really want to paint this month... It would be easy to say the resolutions batches are keeping me away from painting other stuff, but strictly speaking it's not quite true. While I have some other stuff in the works already, I didn't start it because I was itching to do it -- I just want the models off my desk.

To tell you the truth, in addition to losing my focus I've lost the drive itself. I don't really want to play anything. I'm not really enthused about any project. I'm just going through the motions. Which, admittedly, produces a steady stream of ready models, but for what?

Maybe I should just take a break?

Break helps Juha (guest) Sep 10, 2014 23:08

Yep, it does, or doing something else. Had similar feelings and it really helped to have break. It will come back pretty soon, meaning the drive.
