Resolutions December: Mr. G and The Mexicans

Dec 18, 2014 12:42

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Mr. G and Company Thought I'd forgotten all about it? No, even though the spotlight is on the 500 stuff, this is called killing two birds with one stone. Ofcourse I was going to put the resolutions stuff in the 500, since I was going to do them anyway.

As I was running out of cohesive sets to paint, I chose one with at least a general common theme: my remaining Apache warriors, namely the Foundry Geronimo set, and a couple blisters of Mexicans. I had bought all of these for Old West games long ago, but they games died down long before I got around to painting them.

The Mexicans were done in a slightly abbreviated style mainly to see how they would turn out and how much faster that would be. Turns out they turned out just fine, but it wasn't really that much faster. At least not on such a small batch. If I had had 40-50 figures to paint in the same mainly white pajamas things might have been different.

A slight problem with the technique is that the wash ruins the black base, which is really needed to delineate things when you add details in 3-color.

Grande Fiesta Mexicana There's still stuff in my 19th century box, but it's mostly for Victorian London. Which would actually make quite a nice project, especially given that the new Bloodborne game has very similar aesthetics even though it's not explicitly set in our world.

This concludes the 2014 Resolutions. Sorry, no free figures this time.

A conclusion and analysis will be in the year end report.
