Resolutions 2015

Jan 05, 2015 07:46

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Painting Diary Ok, I guess the dust has settled enough. Let's get on with 2015 New Year's Resolutions.

785

Do you know what that number is? It is the number of Kickstarter -related emails I got in 2014. And I don't mean any private banter between pledgers, this is all official info messages etc. Even though it is in decline, I think it's time to take a break.

Resolution 1: I will not pledge in any new Kickstarters in 2015

Existing pledges will be handled and may be added to, but no new ones should be started. Not even nominal $1 ones.

I don't care how cool your project is, I don't care how good a deal it is, I'm taking a break. Besides, I have trouble storing even the existing stuff.

1330 - 1304

And what is that number? It is the painted vs. bought models from last year. Though setting exact limits proved a but troublesome due to deficiencies in the system, on general principle keeping count is a good thing.

Shorty Recruitment Since I already count stuff I'm painting, it's just a question of logging the bought stuff. This is achieved easier by counting it when the packages arrive, even though that means there will be a slight overlap with previous year (e.g. I logged some Kickstarters as bought last year yet I still haven't received the models).

Resolution 2: I will keep a monthly count of received models regardless of source. Terrain is excluded.

But that will be rather boring to follow. Let's do something a bit more progressive.

Chronopia

I really love the Chronopia models (the rules not quite so much), and I have a large stockpile of them. For some reason I just haven't really painted any in ages. Thus 2015 will be the year of Chronopia.

Imperial Muster Resolution 3: I will paint a unit of Chronopia models each month. At least one unit will be painted for each faction I have models for.

A unit will be defined as any coherent set of models found under a single unit header in the rules. I'm saying this because some units might e.g. have compulsory leaders which I don't have the models for.

Ok, that should be enough. There's lots of other stuff I'm going to do, like painting these Warzone figures so I can throw their box in the trash and reclaim some space, but no point in getting overly formal about it.

P.S. Have you already checked the 2014 Year End Report?

P.P.S. As you see, I got myself a new painting diary. I found it on the ground, perhaps someone had dropped it?
