Resolutions April: Horny Ones

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Legion of the Horny Ones So I pretty much finished my Chronopia dwarfs. There are still some odds and ends hiding around in various storage boxes, but the main bulk is done. The last stalwarts were two sets of Legion of the Horny Ones (wasn't that what they were called?)

I had painted a bunch of them long time ago, so I wanted to duplicate the purple and white color scheme leading to a weird hybrid style I haven't really tried out before -- painted highlights on wash.

The spearmen were multipart and a bit of a hassle to put together. The spear really did not fit the bareheaded bodies at all, I wonder had anyone actually test fitted these. In addition the old school metal is way too soft for the long spear shafts.

The swordsmen were more basic but in my opinion better. They are only let down by the extremely limited pose selection and the occasionally weak sword handles. Whoever thought of doing a snap-off design there?

Legion of the Horny Ones I know this is still not stellar production figures, but I feel it's been going a bit better. I am slowly getting painting back into my routine, even though my general schedule is still undergoing major changes. I am doing other stuff out of the house three nights a week and many of my weekends are otherwise occupied -- small wonder I haven't found as much time for painting.

I am also slowly reorganizing my figure storage. I simply need to squeeze them in a much smaller space to avoid throwing stuff away. I built a bunch of storage boxes and managed to reallocate a big bunch of figures, but then I ran out of magnets -- the older figures need to be magnetized to really handle these boxes.

I'm still waiting for magnet resupply but I also need to get more plywood sheet cut. I estimate I still need to make at least another batch of boxes and maybe two. And I need to offload the old storage boxes I have managed to empty...

Legion of the Horny Ones If you were wondering, this is what my Chronopia collection currently looks like in one of my new boxes. Theoretically the boxes hold about 250 figures on one inch bases, but in practice it won't be quite that much. Still, they should take up about half the volume of the old boxes.

Oh, next month? Since I ran out of dwarfs, maybe I'll return to elves. Or Firstborn. Or finally start up with the orcs. Let's see...
