Resolutions September: Firstborn Form Up!

Sep 14, 2015 10:00

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

Firstborn Knights Eeny, meeny, miny, moe... the Firstborn Knights won the lottery and got some brush love applied. I decided to imitate the style I had used on these more than ten years ago, which proved rather interesting as I really had not used it in ages.

This is closer to how I used to paint back in the day - lots and lots of ink washes and drybrushing. As a (then) newer thing, the fleshy bits are painted in three-color and there's similar technique on the gems.

I had a little bit of trouble controlling the washes especially on the shields where white and gold are next to each other, but in the end they were pretty easy to paint.

The lot of 32 was a bit too much, though. I really should have split it into two which I probably would have done if I had had more macemen. For some strange reason I had 7 macemen and 23 swordsmen. As they were sold in packs of two and four, this is rather strange. Either I have misplaced a few figures or I had a mispackaged blister.

Firstborn Knights Next month it'll be Iron Guard... and then Black Sisters. Then I'll probably move on to Blackbloods as I really don't have more Firstborn.
