An Excercise in Boredom

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

I've recently gotten interested in podcasts and vidcasts. I guess they have the charm of the 90's websites, all the enthusiasm and room for amateurs before big business took over the web space and reduced normal people into users of applications and services they choose to provide rather than actual creators and admins of real sites.

Naturally, I thought about making one of my own. Despite my writing habits, I'm not really one to keep a monologue going for several minutes.

So, I tried making a video clip of yours truly painting with my trusty digicam. The upside of it is that the digicam video quality is quite okay for podcasts where the results are viewed in a max 4 inch screen. Even the audio is acceptable.

The downside is that watching me paint figures is only marginally more interesting than watching paint dry, literally. In fact, the most interesting portion of the test clip was the audio podcast that was playing in the background.

The clip I did with my kids was more interesting (for all eleven minutes it took them to start a fight), but unfortunately they're not quite ready to address international audiences.

Experiments continue, however.
