Happy Easter!

Yours truly faking painting.

Note the beverage of the gods.

I spent my Easter vacation painting, and it sure wasn't eggs (though oval shields done in easter egg designs, hmm...)

VC the final stretch Three days (no painting on Good Friday) of relaxed painting was good for productivity. Got my Cong finished, but more about that in a separate posting once I get them properly photographed. Also did a couple of rubber boats just to clear them off my desk and suprisingly started doing reinforcements for my 15mm Americans.

Yes, I know I was supposed to be all done with the yanks with their tank company being up to strength and all that. But I saw an ad for a couple of blisters going for a reasonable price, and couldn't resist... but the really curious thing is that I started painting them even though I have no real need for them.

Being right there on the desk instead of at the bottom of whichever storage box does have and impact on that, obviously, but I think it's more of a question of scale and preference. You see, I really don't like painting 15mm figures all that much. Like not at all. I've learned to endure it and can produce results I can live with, but I don't really really enjoy it.

More Americans Perhaps that's why I cracked the blisters open -- just to be done with them. I was looking for some filler work while I waited for the paint to dry on the VC. Just a little more work on these and I can get back to something else...

The thing with the reinforcements though... they don't really fit in with a tank company or even an armored rifle company, being basically foot sloggers. Looks like I need to paint up a rifle company too...

The funny thing with painting is that my iPod used to get clogged up with my podcast subscriptions. Now, because I listen to gaming podcasts while painting, I've had to subscribe to a whole bunch of new podcasts to have enough stuff to listen to... I probably should set up a computer in my hobby room.

And I wasn't perpetually glued to the brush either. I read the second of the Hunger Games books. Apart from the abrupt ending, I actually liked it. Even though I had liked the first book, I didn't really have high hopes for the sequel. It had all the trappings of a needless stretch into a cash-in-the-faze trilogy. Even though I sometimes have a little trouble relating to the main character ("Oh woe is me, I'm filthy rich and I have to marry a boy who loves me!") on the whole I did enjoy the book and I'm looking forward to the final book in the series. At least I hope it's the final book, I don't think this can really take much more stretching.
