If I was any good, I would have painted him up as Tommy Lee Jones. But I'm not so generic white male will have to do.

These are from Copplestone Future Wars line. Some of the guns are a bit weird but otherwise they make fine modern minis.

My attempt at doing black in 3-color, using the Foundry paints. It's more like gray, if you ask me.

Die Britische Soldaten
Yippee, my British are done. These are all from The Assault Group in glorious 28mm. Pretty nice minis even though many of the rifle barrels came in pre-bent.

That sandbag must a royal female canine to lug around. Then again, being British these guys are all about lugging royalty.

Die Britische Soldaten
The armor is actually wrong, it should be in the same desert DPM pattern as pretty much everything else. I just wanted some contrast, these guys can get very boring to paint.

I thought the Geneva Convention banned these???

Die Britische Soldaten
I probably should have put a little more research into this... e.g. I've no idea what color the radio pack really is.
2012-03-21
Die Britische Soldaten
I thought about the color of the AT-4 launcher, but in all the pictures I could find it was olive. And it does bring some much needed contrast into the picture.

New wheels for the fuzz
The firetruck is a really crappy toy (it's not even painted, all the color including the windows is just stickers), but it was dirt cheap and roughly in the right scale. I can probably make something of this. The question is should I keep it as a fire truck, or build it into a regular truck? Maybe both...
2012-03-21
New wheels for the fuzz
They're not paying their slave labor enough to even set the stickers straight.
2012-03-21
New wheels for the fuzz
The fuzz got some new wheels! This set was apparently on sale for half off, I may need to go in and get another.
2012-03-21
New wheels for the fuzz
Now how do I scruff up those vehicles without having to completely repaint them? Maybe a touch of matt varnish and some drybrushing?

Not that you can really see a whole lot from this picture... But I've been preparing more toy cars for some modern games.

Vietnamese
These are Battlefront 15mm miniatures. At this stage they've been primed and then I just airbrushed the base color. I chose the early war tan to make them stand out from the Americans.

Closeup of the newer batch of infantry. The webbing color isn't quite kosher, but I think it gives nicer constrast so screw historical accuracy...

These are Battlefront 15mm Vietnamese. I'm sad to say the casting quality left a lot to be desired. The weird tint is from the camera.

2012-03-29
The Brave Defenders
Brave Defenders of Mogadishu gather. It would be cooler to say Brave Defenders of Somaliland, but Somaliland and Somalia are not the same thing. These are all from The Assault Group's Somalia range. In glorious 28mm ofcourse.

The Brave Defenders
He came out a bit bland from the sepia wash, so I washed the skin again with pure black. I think that turned out pretty well... unlike the sepia shade on the white cloth. Bad bad idea, never to be repeated.
2012-03-29
The Brave Defenders
I thought about putting some fancy designs on the jackets, but then I didn't have the energy after all. That's a danger when doing these bigger batches.

2012-03-29
The Brave Defenders
Yeah, I really intended to do leopard spots, but when I got around to it I didn't have any reference material handy so I went for this sort of cheetah spots instead. It's all artificial ofcourse, an honest chap like him wouldn't have anything to do with poachers and endangered species.
2012-03-29
The Brave Defenders
The jaw seems misshapen because it is. The casting was flawed and I didn't get it fixed well enough. This was done entirely in Foundry/Dallimore 3-color, the first such I've done in years. Turned out amazingly well, all things considered.
2012-04-04
Cars
Maybe it's his name...
2012-04-04
Cars
The Audi is Hyundai too... well, this one really isn't. The basecoat on this one isn't actually paint but rather zinc spray. Gives an interesting texture, but it does not take washes well, which is why I ended up drybrushing the whole thing with regular silver paint.

VC based
Here's my VC infantry sorted by type. The Battlefront boxes come with a good amount of extra figures, just too bad they are useless extra figures. The box has the option to equip the company with B40 or B41 launchers, but you don't get enough riflemen to do both. Instead you get a shitload of map readers/REMFs and enough bugle players to start Hanoi Marching Brass Band.
2012-04-04
VC based
Here they are stuck on bases. Managed to do a couple of extra observer bases (because I had bought a bunch of extra bases separately -- the box doesn't come with any).
2012-04-04
VC based
Closeup of a rifle stand. Even though these are marketed as AK-47 stands, the armament is more 50/50 AK and SKS with a sprinkling of RPDs.
2012-04-04
VC based
Here's a B41 (RPG-7) stand. Even though RPG series is commonly known for the brownish mid part of the tube, I found some photos of examples with dark green or black tubes. And these were from a museum in Vietnam, no less. Being slightly faster to paint had nothing to do with the choice, oh no...
2012-04-04
VC based
Tomorrow, these guys are going to get some grass.
2012-04-04
VC based
The leftovers. There's some RPG option guys and then the huge pile of bugle players and other useless dorks. There's something like 15 useless figures in each company box.
2012-04-04
Cars
The reason I chose to paint these cars is that originally they were actually race cars and that means they were covered all over with stupid sponsor logos. Repainting was easier said than done, though. The logos were slightly raised so they showed through primer. Finally I had to actually sand them off. Maybe I should get sandblasting equipment... I already have a compressor anyway. Then I sprayed the base color (note to self: next time mask the wheels first), washed the cars with sepia and drybrushed with the original color. I chose to paint the windows black because I thought that would be less work than masking them properly.
2012-04-04
Cars
The 850. Or maybe it's 840, who can tell with these things. The base coat is actually Porsche red, washed with sepia and drybrushed again with red.
2012-04-04
Cars
M5 maybe. I chose blue for this because the typical beamer black is just so boring.

Not a whole lot to these -- just black spray and gray drybrush. Thought about giving it a gloss varnish to simulate wet rubber but didn't actually bother.

These came from police vehicle toy sets I really bought for the cars.
2012-04-10
VC the final stretch
Laying down the base green. Maybe brown would have been a better base color, but I started with this so I decided to stick with it.
2012-04-10
VC the final stretch
Some Vallejo white pumice to hide the individual base edges. That stuff is great, apart from the color. The clean white is a bit difficult to cover with paint. Maybe I should have gotten black pumice instead...

This is my new modern zombie horde. These are Wargames Factory 28mm plastics. The box said 28 miniatures, but mine had 30, in five sprues of six figures -- how can you get 28 out of that?
2012-04-24
Zombie Horde
To be quite blunt, these are not the greatest figures under the sun. They'll pass as a dipped zombie horde but you really don't want to spend much effort on them because it's just not worth it.

2012-04-24
Zombie Horde
The poses are actually pretty monotonous because of the way the figures are designed. The left arms are moulded with the upper body, and tend to hanging limp by the side. The right arms are separate, but they're almost all in stiff straight poses.
2012-04-24
Zombie Horde
The other flaws in these figures include huge gaps between upper and lower bodies and very shallow detail. Their spindly stature may appeal to some, but not to me. But still, they sort of work and weren't too expensive. Not sure I'd buy any more, though.

British reinforcements
More brits in the breach. I had to get these because the dastardly islanders had changed their TO&E to include way more support weapons.
2012-10-03
British reinforcements
The obligatory overhead view.
2012-10-03
British reinforcements
Unfortunately, TAG didn't have a great variety of poses with support weapons so I had to buy the same pack three times.
2012-10-03
British reinforcements
So faced with multiples of the same figure, I tried to vary the skin.
2012-10-03
British reinforcements
The bases have some Vallejo sand paste this time. It's working pretty good, but I think the mixture could be a little more coarse.
2012-10-03
British reinforcements
These were pretty fast to do when I finally got around to them.
2012-10-03

Loot
I picked these up at a doll house fair. I can see VC getting hold of some ICBM's...
2012-12-20
The Fuzz
These figures had special street bases, which I quite frankly did not like. They also had pretty fragile ankles, one of the police figure lies footless in my spares box.
2012-12-20
The Fuzz
These are 28mm figures that came with a game. Frankly, I bought the game for the figures and I mostly wanted these because finding 28mm modern civilians isn't that easy.
2012-12-20

They are standing on my new cobblestone street bases. The ground is uneven because I didn't have enough space on the table and I just plonked these on top of some other crap. I really need to clean my workspace...

Girls out on the town
The terracotta is a pretty good red color. Much better than the other Foundry red I got.
2013-01-17
Girls out on the town
These three are the more sensibly dressed ones.
2013-01-17
Girls out on the town
The highlight in the raw linen paint set is really light. I probably should have painted it more like white. The blue and purple work well.
2013-01-17
Girls out on the town
Here's the remaining five civilians from that game set. I decided to test my new Foundry paints with these guys.
2013-01-17

These gals are waiting for their turn.
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
I planned to make these the last batch for the year but then I went ahead and finished something else too...
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
The criminals are all from Copplestone except for Alice, who is from Hasslefree.
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers

2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
Snipers and lightly equipped patrol officers.
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
My police collection has grown to worrying size quite unnoticed. And I still need more!
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
These were sold as SWAT, but I intend to use the as regular patrol officers who just quickly grabbed some heavier kit.
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
Ok, maybe it's not fair to call them all gangsters. Call them... entrepreneurs.
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
Mark Copplestone is one of my favorite sculptors.
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
I fixed Alice's bunny. I just didn't like the way it was originally. Plus my son likes bunnies.
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
For some reason, the range doesn't seem to include a good Vincent figure.
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
These dudes are ready for some business negotiations.
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
I really like painting female figures. Yes, and I do know the hair color for the gal on the right may seem a bit off... well, my daughter has green hair now and she wasn't born with it either, so suck it!
2013-12-28
Cops and Robbers
Auntie Green and Alice. I need to get more of these and paint up Brown and Purple too. And Uncle Blue. Plus two juvenile delinquents.
2014-02-03
Snipers
Nothing goes with well oiled muscles quite like a Dragunov...
2014-02-03
Snipers
These are the remaining snipers from my TAG sniper pack -- I already painted one as a police sniper.
2014-02-03
Snipers
The obligatory overhead view.
2014-02-03
Snipers
This guy is actually looking through the scope... the amount of figures in 'firing' poses who are looking nowhere near their sights is staggering.
2014-02-03
Snipers
I intended to give these guys some camos, but I completely forgot about it in my hurry to get them finished... oh well, there's always next time.
2014-02-03
Snipers
The standing guy seems to have an adjustable-pull stock on his rifle. Nice attention to detail.
2014-02-03
Snipers
He actually isn't monochrome. The shirt and the boots are slightly different shade.
2014-02-03
Snipers
This guy is actually more like thinking about maybe aiming...
2014-02-03
Snipers
Yeah, I actually forgot he had hair showing...
2014-02-03
Snipers
That's not the way you shoulder a high-powered rifle... Maybe he likes bruises?
2014-02-03
Snipers
I gave his rifle a wooden stock just to break the monotony of the black.
2014-02-03
Snipers
Another example of biceps-shooting, but at least he's looking through the sight.
2014-02-03

2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
The obligatory overhead shot.
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
These are all from The Assault Groups organized crime range. Actually, this is the entire terrorist half of that range.
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
I tried to give them a military/operator style without over camo or too uniform look.
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
The equipment is all Russian and rather light. I would have liked to see some webgear, tactical vests and the like.
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
Some of the gunbarrels are a bit flimsy.
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
There is a bit of repetition in the poses.
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
He's a freebie called the suicide bomber.
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
Ok, you go back to basic training.
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
Painting the eyes behind the ski masks was pretty difficult. Maybe I need to retouch Mr. Googlyeyes a little bit...
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
Never fear, the machinegun is here!
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
One of them even has noob tube!
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
I thought about adding some decals to the t-shirts, but then I forgot about it...

Mr. Trenchcoat looking sharp as ever.
2014-02-03
The Syem Mercenaries
I gave them all the reddish plastic magazines to add some color.

President-General Mobutu Seko Seko's Guard troops get reinforcements.
2014-02-17
Presidential Guard
The obligatory overhead view.
2014-02-17
Presidential Guard
These are actually Iraqi guards from TAG.
2014-02-17
Presidential Guard
Too bad there aren't more poses. I could well build a bigger unit of these but with one quarter pistoleros here it starts to get a bit silly.
2014-02-17
Presidential Guard
These are nice figures, I probably should have given them more attention.
2014-02-17
Presidential Guard
This is a little photo experiment. The lighter background does wonders to the picture quality.
2014-02-17
Presidential Guard
Maybe I should repaint my studio space...
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
And here they are, in their totally non-IP infringing glory!
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
The obligatory overhead view.
2014-02-17

She doesn't really look a whole lot like Amy... but the dress was fun to paint.
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
I think Hannib, sorry, Hasdrubal, is the best figure of the bunch.
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
There's Facepalm man and a crazy pilot.
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
The lipstick is overdone, I should probably retouch it a bit.
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
I still haven't quite grasped how to do metals with 3-color.
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
Mister Z pities the fool. I cheated a bit on the gold chains, they are washed.
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
Where did that pesky hair come from? Awww, cripes...
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
Facepalm's jacket looks a bit oversized.

The Alphabet Team
Ready to survive in Los Angeles underground as soldiers of fortune.
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
I really loved the series as a kid... no, wait, what series? These figures are totally not connected!
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
I really should have painted the guns better. Unfortunaltely, they are really not too good sculpts (or maybe the molds were just worn).
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
Amy shows off her assets. Why do I feel like buying figures with hoop skirts?
2014-02-17
The Alphabet Team
Yes, I did not freehand a faded tiger on the mad hatter's jacket... shame on me.
